Normally I'd just install Vista but I'm worried it will slow down my games. Dual boot seems the best to test things out.. is this easy or recommended? Asked by cloudy 58 months ago Similar questions: set dual boot Dell laptop XP Media Center Windows Vista Computers > Software.

Yes, it's both easy and not a bad idea if you're worried about compatibility You're smart to think ahead. As long as you have plenty of disk space available, dual booting is a good idea in order to test whether or not Vista will give you any trouble with your existing apps, especially games. It isn't difficult to set up, but I suggest you follow the tutorial here which is very detailed and goes through the process step by step:apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vistaGood" rel="nofollow">apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vis... luck!

Its time consuming but fairly easy All you need to do is install each operating system to a different hard drive partition. You would basically install Vista to your D drive and XP to your C drive, or whatever you prefer. Then when your pc boots up it will ask you which operating system to boot.
If you dont' have any partitions then you will have to create one. Be careful though, many times you will lose data that is stored on the "new" partition. Make sure you have a current backup.
There are two ways to create a partition. Either enter your BIOS during the boot sequence (usually you hit the "delete" key) and set your pc to boot from CD (or DVD) first, and hard drive second. Insert your Vista disc and reboot.
When asked to boot from CD ROM say yes. After it does all the copying and things it will ask you where to install it. You will have to create a partition, so just follow the on screen instructions to create a new partition.
Then once it's created MAKE SURE you highlight te proper partition to install to. If you don't you will erase everything you have on the other partition. There is also software that you can use to creat partitions.
However, it does cost some $$. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
