If you were my daughter, I would be as furious as your Mum is. You destroyed something magical for your brother and the whole family. Your brother believed and you destroyed the fantasy of Santa Claus for him .
You destroyed the enjoyment your parents get out of his believing. There is something magical about a child believing in Santa Claus- an innocence over the commercialization the holiday has become. Now that magic has escaped like the contents of Pandora's Box.
It can never be recaptured. I have something you can do that might recapture the magic. Get a friend to ring a sleigh bell and flash some type of light outside your house Christmas Eve around your brother's bedtime.
Let the adults in on it so they too hear Santa in flight. My uncle did that one year and trust me we kids were in our beds within minutes. Put out carrots for the reindeer.
Have your brother discover the half eaten carrots ( just break some into pieces by hand) in the yard Christmas Day. Or buy some tootsie rolls or tootsie roll miniatures and "find" reindeer poop in the yard. If you can not get tootsie rolls where you live, you can make reindeer poop by melting cheap chocolate bars and just making clumps on a cookie tray and then put them in the freezer or refrig to cool.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
