How do I tell sata from ied ribbon?

SATA is usually red or orange, and the connector at the end is like an elongated L shape. Usually only a single end to a SATA (EIDE can have two). Sata is about 3/8 inch wide and a little thicker than a ribbon.

The 3/8 inch ribbon is red & is thicker than a ribbon. The end is L shaped & has 7 or 8 little connectors. Therefore this should be a sata driver.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
