I had this same problem when I bought a new laptop, I'm afraid it either might take a long time or you will have to pay a fee, but my solution was to download a program that enables you to copy everything on your ipod onto your computer, and I will provide the link below. Unfortunately, I am a cheapskate, so I downloaded the free version and that meant I had to do it all song by song which took forever, but the paid version does it all in one go and I have no idea of the price of the full version.
