How do I upgrade my iTouch to version 3.0? Is $10 worth of copy and pasting really worth it?

There are lots of small improvements in the 3.0 update for the iPod touch that make it worthwhile for $10. This update unlocks a Bluetooth chip in the touch 2G that allows you to pair it with Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can also download movies and TV shows from the iTunes store over the WiFi connection.

The podcasting application now includes a couple of handy new features including a button for going back 30 seconds at a time and a button for setting playback to double or half-speed. To get the update, open iTunes and click on the iTunes Store link on the left-hand side. Right in the middle of the screen you will see a button that says "iPod touch 3.0 software update."

When it's available and you're doing a sync, iTunes will ask you if want to upgrade. There are plenty of other features beside cut-and-paste, but if they're not useful for you, you can wait for the next round of upgrades . That way you pay once to catch up, not twice.

I daresay there will be an OS 3. 1 update out withing the next six months.
