If you live near Boston or happen to be in Boston in mid-May, one event to attend is the Make Way for Ducklings Parade. Based on the beloved children's classic by Robert McCloskey, the parade covers the route Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings followed through the streets of Boston to the Public Gardens. Children can dress as their favorite character from the book and enjoy the festivities.

The parade usually begins at 12:00 p.m. On the Boston Common opposite the State House. Register for the parade about an hour before it begins.
Buy advance tickets from select Boston retailers or buy tickets the morning of the parade. Tickets cost $25 per family. Make it an even more special experience by helping your child dress as a favorite character from the book.
