How Do You Cite Online References In APA Format?
With so much information available online, students are increasingly using the internet as a main resource for research. Although information is typically easier to find online, students are often confused or unsure about how to cite these references. The American Psychological Association--or APA--rules are the most commonly used to cite sources in research papers.
Look at the source that you have just quoted from or referenced and note the author's name and the date that it was published. Place a bracket after your quote followed by the author's last name. Place a comma after the author's last name and follow it with the year the source was published.
Place a comma after the publication and add the page number where your information was found. This is only necessary if a page number is available. Place a bracket after the date or page number to complete your citation.
