I have been throwing a variety of Japanese and Chinese throwing implements for about ten years. I wrote an article that explains the mechanics of throwing an axe, and was subsequently compelled to include a simple set of instructions for making your own target. If you are throwing an axe, the material that makes the most sense use is a soft wood (I use a trunk from a fallen palm tree because the soft, porous wood is perfect).
A throwing axe is much heavier than a knife and a target made out of lighter materials simply cannot stand up to the axes punishment. However, when throwing a knife wood can be both dangerous and a nuisance. Knives, because of their lighter weight, are more likely to ricochet large distances when poorly thrown.
Also, in addition to the danger of the knife bouncing back and killing you, the sound that the ricochet makes is a very loud clanging noise that will upset your neighbors. I have developed a target that is perfect for knives, flying stickers, darts, and ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
