Each business has their own plan which is given as a recommendation/example. I, myself have each team member (before signing on) to see what they can and/or are willing to invest, meaning time and/or money into theirselves and their future.
First don't force yourself into a plan that people say it's very good but you yourself felt uneasy to go along with. Slowly enquiry around and explore, one way or another it will bit by bit review / come to you. Whatever plan or concept you have, go for the one you felt most easy with.
Business is a long run, no point finding the best plan but in the end you can't cope with it..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
