Similar questions: feel Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aaron homerun record.
Wish he retire I saw Barry Bonds break the home-run record on television and after the game was over, there was a press conference. Mr. Bonds talked about his "goals" since he already is the king of homeruns. He wants a World Series ring.
I don't see anything wrong with that except that this guy wants to retire as a Giant. I don't think that the Giants is going to World Series anytime soon since they are in last place and they resigned Brian Sabean as general manager. Brian Sabean doesn't know how to do his job.
This team has to rebuild. Since Brian Sabean is the general manager, he isn't going to sign any power hitters or new pitchers. Barry Bonds can't have it both ways.
How can he retire as a Giant and get the ring if the team is not going to rebuild? .
I think it's a bad day for baseball. Hank Aaron is a heckuva guy and everything an athlete should aspire to become. Barry Bonds is not so great a guy as Hank Aaron, and it's kind of sad to see him take this record from Hank.
Still, it's not a terrible thing. He set a new record, which is great. There are some up and comers coming up behind him, and we may see somebody overtake whatever his record turns out to be in a few years. It could bring some excitement to the sport when it comes time, and I bet there will be some cheering when Bonds' record is broken.
There's always a bit of controversy when a great man's record is broken (though more this time than others). There are some folks who still feel Babe Ruth is the home run king no matter what Aaron managed to pull off. But it's still not a great deal for baseball.
Mixed emotions: As a Giants fan, I am happy ... but it seems tainted due to the steroids allegations Even if Bonds did use steroids, it is quite an accomplishment. But I must admit the allegations of steroids use had tainted this record. I guess this is one of those world records that will forever have an asterisks next to it.Sadly.
I think it is great! Records are meant to be broken. Like Hank said last night after Barry hit the home run.
Barry is a great home run hitter and he deserves the record. They haven't proven that Barry has taken Steroids or any other enhancement drugs. Even if he has that doesn't make him a better player / batter.
I think that until he is proven guilty of using something then if you enjoy baseball at all you should be proud for Bonds and be glad that he has taken the record to a whole knew level.
