How do you feel when you get a weak or an awful score?

I received my first "awful" today. I was the only person who answer this newbie and she didn't like what I had to say. I don't think she even comes to askville any longer from looking at her profile.

I also have 8 weak scores. 2 of those I expected when I gave the answer because I knew the person wouldn't like what I said but I wanted to say it anyway.4 were from newbies who didn't understand scoring. 2 were from a well know asker of silly questions who turned vicious for some reason.

Usually I look and try to figure out why I got the score. I'm more puzzled than anything else. I'm especially disappointed if there isn't a comment on the bulletin board from them as to why.

Weak and awful There is only ONE of my bad scores that bothers me and it totally wasn't deserved. It was a joke/opinion question and everyone else got rated "good" and I got "weak". Totally unfair.My answer was on point and did not deserve the bad rating it got.

At least I don't care about those topics. I am never answering any of that person's (way too many stupid) questions again. On some of my other ones I was voted weak because of conflicts with the opinions of the asker (I no longer answer questions if I don't agree) and when I first started, I gave some smart-ass answers because I came from Yahoo Answers, where being a smart-ass in your answer is a way of life.

I learned, and I don't do that anymore here. I'm curious if the "well know asker of silly questions who turned vicious for some reason" is the same person who voted me down? Click my link and let me know.

If I get at least an okay, I'm good with it. The coins have no value and who knows when they will. I've only gotten 9 weak answers and 1 awful in the 1000+ questions I've answered--that's a pretty good ratio.

Personally I very rarely vote anyone weak or awful unless their answer has nothing to do with the question, is a total waste of space like "I don't know, let me know when you find out" or the answer is really mean in a way the question didn't warrant. I agree that some of them are newbies who don't understand they are taking away points. Maybe Askville could put a little reminder when you vote "weak or awful" that you are taking away point and are you sure you want to do this?

I Can Sympathize I always give honest answers from the heart, and mostly based on experience. I know that we all have different experiences, interpretations, input, etc. I was sad when someone gave me an "awful" or an "okay" response, when I truly gave it my all. Sometimes people don't want to hear what you have to say and will judge accordingly.

The lowest I ever rated anyone was "okay", but I could not give an "awful" when the person was courageous enough to answer.

I would take it personally, but... You shouldn't (seriously). Firstly, do as I say, not as I do (free advice worth what you paid for it). However, into every Askville life, some rain must fall.

There are truly some morons out there, and by morons, I mean they really don't know what voting means. They just check in, ask a question, throw a few "awfuls" and "weaks" out there and split. Not everyone takes Askville as seriously as the fine citizens of Askville.

But to answer your question, yes, it would bother me greatly unless I said something that was really condescending (I once got a "weak" for an off-handed comment like that), but you have to be who you are in any case. No one can upset you unless you give them the power to. It's Askville...a place where we all ostensibly come to HAVE FUN.It's not your credit report or your college transcript, thank God.

I don't really worry about it - as long as my average stays high and I have more greats and BAs than awfuls. When I first started, it used to irk me, and then I decided I didn't care. I answer the questions to the best of my ability from common sense, experience, education and intelligence, and if people don't like the answers and rate my low, that's their problems and not mine..

Don't let it get to you! I never got an awful but I did get 5 weaks. They upset me but looking back I was new on askville and after reading those answer I have to admit they were not very good.In your case, being the only one that answered the question I think I would be really angry.

Why a newbie would rate an awful is beyond me. Even if you do not understand the concept of voting why rate a perfect stranger who answered your question an awful. If I were you I wouldn't let it get me down too much since you have a lot of friends here and why go nuts over one awful.

The weak vote is something we just have to deal with here. People try to get even by voting a weak. I have mentioned many times that I pretty much rate everyone good, even people I totally dissagree with.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
