Probably the best way is to have it dry cleaned, or, if that's not an option, have it brushed thoroughly, then let it lay exposed to the sun for a few hours. The sunlight should kill the mildew I would just like to add something for you to try: This worked for a pair of leather pants, it also works on old books. Wrap the item in a plastic freezer bag, or just wrap it tightly and freeze it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
