Mulch them Don't worry about covering up the tops right now. Mulch them with straw or some other light material all the way over them. Or at least mostly over them.
Strawberries are quite hardy. If, however, you have had your strawberries for more than three years, you need to get them separated, amend the soil, and replant the best crowns with enough space between them to allow good growth in the spring. Remember to water deeply when it is time to water again, so that the roots will go way down.
Then let them dry a little in between. If you keep strawberries too wet, the fruits will mush fast and taste terrible even though they look bright red. Sources: experience .
Mulch with a heavy layer of straw Strawberry plants are called "Straw" berries for a reason - they get the kind of nutrients they need as the straw decays. You can put a layer of straw up to 6 inches thick around, and even a little over them for the winter. They won't be growing much during the dark days of winter anyways, so light isn't as much of a concern.
The straw will protect them from the dessicating effects of wind, as well as repeated frost-thaw cycles. In the spring, pull off most of the straw, leaving a layer 2 - 3 inches thick around the base of the plant, keeping it away from the main stem.
Mulch Mulch will keep your strawberries warm; it's like putting a blanket over them. Let your strawberries "harden", which means just leaving them exposed to the air until autumn has well and truly arrived and you start to get frost. Then cover them with three to five inches of mulch.
Straw is a really good mulch for strawberries; the air gaps between the straws trap air, which is the best insulator, without being too heavy. Make sure the straws are separate and fluffy; if they're matted together it won't help. In the spring, just rake it off and compost it..
1 Thanks Tuppence and Pam. I will go to the feed store and get some straw and give her a try.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
