The Tokay gecko is a brilliantly colored member of the gecko species. Breeding the Southeast Asian native takes some care, and you must replicate specific conditions to incubate and hatch healthy gecko offspring. Add plants, stones and tree fallings similar to those found in southeast Asia and the Indonesian archipelago.
Simulate the springtime conditions of the region by using lamps to raise temperatures to the mid-80s F, which can also add between 1 and 2 extra hours of daylight for the gecko. Place different nesting options in the aquarium. Generally, the gecko incubates her eggs in objects such as bamboo tubes or wood cork.
Place these objects and some wood pilings in the container. Leave the eggs in place. Don't jostle the aquarium since, any movement can harm the eggs.
If you use a reptile incubator, remove the entire object with the eggs in it and place it on vermiculite. Keep the temperature of the eggs between 80 and 86 F. Let the eggs incubate for 60 to 120 days.
