How Do You Make A Bootable USB Drive With Ubuntu?

Previously, making a bootable USB drive with Ubuntu required installation of a bootloader and other advanced measures. UNetBootin makes the process easy. If you can you format a USB drive and download an Ubuntu disk image, you can make a bootable USB drive with Ubuntu.

Step 1 Install GParted (see link in Resources). Open the terminal and type "sudo apt-get install gparted." Enter your root password and select "Yes," if prompted.

Step 2 Format your USB drive. Connect your USB drive and run GParted. Click the GParted menu and click "Devices" to select your USB drive.

Create a New Partition Table and format a partition for ext2, ext3 or ext4. Step 3 Download UNetBootin (see link in Resources). Choose Linux if you are running Linux.

Choose Windows if you are currently booted in Windows. Step 4 Download an Ubuntu disk image (see link in Resources). Download the latest release as an .iso.
