A light box has a back-lit panel, sometimes sunk into a table to make a seamless surface, on which an artist places work to more easily see details. Light boxes are simple devices that an average person can construct after a single trip to the hardware store.

Measure and cut the wood into side panels: two at 23-1/4 inches, and two at 17-1/4 inches. Put some glue on the end of a short side panel and line it up at a right angle to one of the long panels. Screw the two panels together.

Repeat with the other two pieces of wood. Glue and screw the two L-shaped sections together to form a rectangular frame. This becomes the outside of your light box.

Place the plywood board on top and screw it into the frame. Flip the box over, so the plywood board becomes the back panel. Attach the light fixtures to the back panel so they are inside the box.
