Making molds for ceramic projects is an inexpensive and relatively easy task. Nearly any hard item found around the home can be used to create a ceramic mold. Plaster of Paris mixture and typical household cooking oil are the main components used when creating a homemade ceramic mold.
Small to large molds can be created to suit the artisan's needs. Large molds require extreme care when handling to ensure cracking doesn't occur when adding clay to the interior of the mold. Select item to used to form the mold.
Spray inside of bowl with cooking spray. The cooking sprays aids in removing the mold after air-drying the item. Mix the Plaster of Paris according to provided instructions.
Fill the bowl no more than halfway with plaster of Paris. Spray hard object with cooking spray. Press hard object immediately into Plaster of Paris.
Dry the Plaster of Paris mold and hard object overnight. Remove hard object slowly. Spray additional cooking spray on item if necessary.
