Since its opening in 1994, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, has introduced thousands of visitors to a part of history many knew nothing about, including countless students on field trips. Located precisely in the neighborhood where the Negro National Leagues was founded in 1920, the museum is a treasure of artifacts, photographs, films and multi-media computer stations. Before going to the museum, visit the website (see Resources) to check museum hours and current ticket prices.
Plan your transportation to the museum. Parking is available nearby. Taxis as well as public transportation busses can also get you to the museum.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a light jacket as the museum is kept at a cool temperature for protection of the displays. Leave your cameras at home as photography is not allowed, other than in the main entry hall. Be aware that the museum is handicapped accessible and also provides closed captioning.
