Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer CDs to downloads. And to be completely honest, I like vinyl better than CDs. At least when listening to music on my home stereo, LPs still sound the best.

LPs aren't really practical for portability and it is pretty a slow process to digitize them, so from a practical standpoint CDs win out over LPs. But I really do like going to music stores and browsing for stuff. And owning a tangible, physical object (including liner notes and album art) is vastly preferable to owning only digitized files, in my opinion.

Also, a lot of music you download is poorly compressed. It's fine for listening to on an iPod, but play these things through even a decent home stereo and compare them to CDs and there's no comparison. I know CDs and music stores are dying, but that's still my preference.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but there are still a couple of small independent record stores nearby. I'll keep patronizing them as long as they're still around.

ITunes All The Way... Together my husband and I had about 1500 CD's. We took EVERY one, including the holiday and the books on cd and digitized them on my husband's mac. We then bought a mac mini and loaded all of the music on that and turned it into our stereo and music player for the house.

We bought multiple iPod's over the years since they have come out. We started downloading a few years ago when iTunes first came out. It is so easy, it is cheap, cheaper than a cd for sure, the songs are easy to catalog and organize, you have your entire music library at your finger tips at all times.

We really do love it. It is easy and fun. The reality is, whatever you are used to is what you will prefer I think.

If you are an older person and were used to cassettes, cd's seem advanced. If you got used to cd's and aren't into technology, you probably don't want to move forward to downloading. We love the freedom of downloading and the easy accessibility of the music.

We have since doing all of the above put all of our cd's in rubbermaid bins underneath our house and never have to worry about scratching, duplicating, bending, breaking, travel cases, jewel cases etc. Again. Happy ears any way you listen!.

CDs I prefer to buy CDs. First thing I do is to rip 'em to the computer and then sync to my Creative ZEN. Then the CDs get stored where they won't get lost or damaged.

I can always have the tracks available on the network or in my pocket. Aside from pulling a few for the car, the CDs never go anywhere but in the rack and they don't get beat up. Hard drive space is cheap.

I buy a lot of obscure stuff though. Tracking down individual tracks online and downloading them would take forever. Clicking Amazon or browsing the the "nobody else bought this" bin at the music store is a lot easier...and more productive..

Er, both. I tend to use CDs if I'd like the complete album. For example, had the Beatles been downloadable, I wouldn't have dreamed of downloading them.

I'm strange that way, but having a hard copy of it is comforting when your computer acts up. However, when I want one song off of an album, I'll usually download it. And by way of that, I use iTunes.

Oh, and I'll also use it when I want a beloved J-ROCK album and the import makes the price too high for my budget. But I think, down deep, I prefer it in cd. Once again, because my computers have tendencies to crash, I like having a backup that I don't have to muss with too much..

Digital downloads I'd rather have the single song, chances are I only want a few from a CD anyway. Besides, with the CD I'd have to rip it for my iPod. Anything to cut down a step or two..

I have been told by companies selling mp3 music downloads that I can use the music as background music in slideshows.

It says in down loads but then it won't open.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
