Good! We are going to figure out what's wrong with the drive by process of elmination.1.Is the HD receiving power? If no make sure it's plugged into a good source.
If The unit isn't receiving power then it maybe that the Seagate enclosure has lost it's ability to power and spin up the drive. 2. Make sure the HD is connected to a good USB port. Try them all on computer.
Try it with another computer. It is possible for your problem to be the computer is not mounting the HD.3. Is the drive still under warranty? Most have good warranties.
However they don't usually cover data loss. This is why having a backup of everything is important. If you really need that data and do not want pay high prices for data recovering like DriveSavers.
Then your best bet IS to void your warranty by removing the drive and putting it in another case. You can gets external HD enclosures cheap from Newegg. Com The cost of a new SeaGate drive is far less than data recovery.
Plus you have the hope of getting your data off the drive. You also might that the drive is fine but just the case went bad. Then with the new enclosure you know have a working external HD again with all of your data.
There is a special software on this. Try to check this site computer-answers.com. They can fix it.
You can sometimes get it to work briefly by putting it in a sealed plastic bag (as little air - moisture as possible) and placing it in a freezer for an hour. This has allowed me to get on a drive for a short period of time and get off the files I needed. If the files lost are expensive in value I wouldn't try using the drive too much.
The more it makes that "clicking" (actually part slamming) noise the worse it will get. If it won't spin up at all as you've described, then it might not be a crashed drive at all. It might be in some kind of sleep mode or something.
What is the brand / model of the drive? There may be a support article explaining that the drive can get confused and not start up. If the drive is crashed and the freezer doesn't work, the only other thing to do if it's important enough is to bring it to a data recovery specialist.
This is very expensive and usually not worth it. Only you know the cost of losing the data on that drive! I believe they take the "data" part out and put it into a working drive.
Good luck! I hope I have helped!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
