YES YOU CAN! If BF3 doesn't support joypad, well no problem you just get a keyboard and mouse simulator like "Xpadder" and and good to go. But BF3 should support any joypad I believe.

I highly doubt it. In the gaming section of most best buys, however, you can find wired xbox controllers specialized for PC input. I personally prefer mouse, though.
