Turn off the water lines. There are two supply lines that are atttached to your faucet, one for cold and one for hot. You may be able to turn off the supply lines directly under your kitchen sink, or the water may have to be turned off at the water tank or where it enters the house.
Turn on the faucet to run all the water out of the lines, once you have turned off the water. Place a bucket underneath the sink to catch any water left in water lines and pipes. Using an adjustble wrench, turn the nuts that attach the water supply lines to the faucet in a counter clockwise motion.
