I am under the impression that Chinese families take care of their elders more than Americans do because the government won't. They rever e their elders more than we do and don't believe it is the government's job to take care of them. The family does that.

I don't have to go back one generation to see the same thing in my family as my brother, me and my cousins all look after our parents and grandparents if they need it. Fortunately most of them have been successful and don't need it but those who do don't have to worry. The entire extended family will make sure they are fine.
