The problem is that there isn't enough time for the script to finish running before the user is taken to the next page. What you can do is create a wrapper function for your GA code and in the onclick, call the wrapper function and after the GA code is triggered in your wrapper function, set a time out and update location. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
