How does health care reform affect those with chronic health conditions?

Health care reform will help many people who have chronic health conditions. Many of these people have historically had a hard time obtaining health insurance due to their pre-existing conditions. Those conditions make these people more of an insurance risk, reducing their chances of being accepted by a health insurance company.

If we all get the same health care insurance but the health care insurance system doesn’t have any more funds than the private health insurance companies do now, I worry the quality of care will go down. If the government can find more money to put into a public health care insurance option to keep the quality of care as high as most of the private plans fund now, health care reform will be a good thing. Generally speaking, health insurance is required to cover a chronic condition you develop after you acquire the coverage (during the period of time you were covered by the plan).
