2 Austin has Mountain ceder which would keep my wife away from there and San Antonio. But the mesquite bothered her in Laredo, too. She is from Lubbock - with no trees that were not planted.
If you have kids, then the Austin area has a great education system. As with any city, some schools are better than others. I admit, I'm a little biased, since I teach at an Austin suburb high school.
But, a few highlights, because of the number of areas universities (UT, St. Edward's, Texas State, Huston-Tillotson, ACC, etc), schools have access to resources. The same with technology. Dell's community support means that area schools have access to great computers, smart boards, and technology.
Several area school (Westwood and Stony Point HS) are International Baccalaureate approved, which will automatically give your kids a step up.5) Location. Austin is located in the heart of central Texas. It's within driving distance of Dallas, Houston, Galveston and San Antonio.
So, you have easy access to all those cities have to offer. Austin's growth exploded so quickly that the infrastructure got left behind. Roads are crowded.Weather.
