How long after over seeding my lawn can I put down some lime. I don't want to kill the new lawn. I seeded last week and the grass is looking great!
Also, any tips on lime I would appreciate, I've never put any down in the 5 years I've been here. Thanks. Asked by FiremanJohn 51 months ago Similar questions: long seeding lawn put lime Home > Patio, Lawn & Garden.

None specifically; best to be done only after a litmus test if PH is less than 6.5 There really isn't a specific time to apply lime except not within two weeks of fertilizing. Lime can be put down at the same time as seed. Generally, however, you should not use lime unless the PH level of the soil from a spot dug down six inches, is less that 6.5.Sources: extension.missouri.edu/xplor/agguides/ho... .
Lime should only be applied before seed, and only when needed. Don't apply lime to a newly seeded lawn! If you feel that your lawn needs lime applied (which it likely doesn't since you said the new grass looks great), make sure by first performing a soil pH test.
Lime neutralizes acidic soil to allow new grass seed to take hold. This should be done late in the Autumn, then allowed to break down in the soil for several months. Grass seed should then be applied early the following Spring, then again the following Autumn.
The result should be a thick, lush, healthy lawn. Sources: yardcare.com/region/region1_tips.html .
If so, here's some pointers from: mastergardenproducts.com/gardenerscorner... optimum pH level for turf is in the 6.2-6.5 range. More importantly, 28 percent of the samples tested less than pH 5.5, a level at which growth of turf can be adversely affected. However, lime should not be applied unless a soil test indicates that it's needed.
Too much lime can be as harmful as too little, causing potential trace element deficiencies. BEST TIME TO APPLY It is recommended that lime be applied in the fall to enable the material to break down over the winter for the next season's growth. However, lime can be applied any time.
If a soil test in the spring indicates lime is needed, apply it at once. Lime begins to react immediately and reduces acidity and improves turf growth through the summer and fall. One word of caution - if urea fertilizer is used, apply it three weeks before the lime to permit the urea to react with the soil.
If urea is applied at the same time as lime, nitrogen will be lost due to the increased pH around the fertilizer granules. Lime is safe to use! The common forms of lime applied to turf - calcitic lime and dolomitic lime - are non-toxic to humans or grass and will not cause pollution problems.
HOW OFTEN NEEDEDAn application to bring the soil pH to 6.5 should last four to six years. Soils tend to revert to their natural acidity levels, and most nitrogen fertilizers used on lawns are acid-forming, gradually decreasing the soil pH. Ammonium nitrate and urea, two commonly used nitrogen fertilizers, break down in the soil to produce nitric acid.
Approximately 1 3/4 lbs. Of pure lime is needed to neutralize the acidity caused by 1 lb. Of nitrogen from either of these fertilizers.
In a yearly fertilization program where a total of 4 lbs. Of nitrogen is applied per 1000 sq.Ft. , approximately 7 1/4 lbs.
Of pure lime would be needed to neutralize the acidity the nitrogen fertilizer produces. Therefore, the soil should be tested periodically and lime applied when needed."Here's another great website:essortment.com/home/lawnreseedpat_sytj.h... mention that you lime before you seed, but it doesn't really seem to matter too much. Just get it tested first.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
