Some wonderful online guides What important questions! Here's some information that I hope helps:According to the Central for Disease Control:When should a baby start eating solid foods such as cereals, vegetables, and fruits? Breast milk alone is sufficient to support optimal growth and development for approximately the first 6 months after birth.

For these very young infants, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that water, juice, and other foods are generally unnecessary. Even when babies enjoy discovering new tastes and textures, solid foods should not replace breastfeeding, but merely complement breast milk as the infant’s main source of nutrients throughout the first year. Beyond one year, as the variety and volume of solid foods gradually increase, breast milk remains an ideal addition to the child’s diet.

How long should a mother breastfeed? The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mother and baby desire. The World Health Organization recommends continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond.

As long as possible, preferably till 12months As long as possible, breastmilk is unquestionably the best source of food for your baby. It is what nature intended! And, it serves to strengthen your bond and give you beautiful time and cuddles together.

You cannot overfeed a baby by breastfeeding....but you can with formula. Your body adapts its breastmilk production according to the needs and development of your baby. Regarding underfeeding, there are lots of strategies to increase your milik supply, the Nursing Mothers Association or La Leche League can give you more information.

Initially though, you can count your babies nappies if you are unsure they are getting enough - in 24 hour period, 6-8 wet nappies and 3-4 dirty nappies. Also can use weight gain as an indicator. Hope this helps!.

Have 4 daughters and breastfed the first 3 about 9 months and nursing my 6 months old now. I don't think you can overfeed...the baby just won't take it if she/he is full. The only problem I think will feeding too much is that the baby gets so use to the breast and uses it as a pacifier (which mine currently does).

Obviously if your baby isn't gaining weight then you could be underfeeding. If baby has several wet diapers a day and your breasts fill up and then empty after a feeding then you are probably doing fine, but check with your doctor if you have questions.

Most people breast feed up to a year old.... It really all depends on you.... you can stop when YOU WANT to and ween your baby on to the bottle when so---- but the average time for most mothers would be a year old I would have to say. ----You usually can't over feed because when your babies done eating he/she DEF. Lets you know.. but if you do the baby will spit up and after a while that can't be good for the baby because of the acid that comes up with it--- but spit up here n there is normal and not to worry!

Infact you really shoudn't worry about over feeding because like I said... your baby will stop eating before that happens. ---- If you under feed than your baby will eat more often with little breaks in between---- most babies eat every two --- two n a half hours ... but if the baby was under fed it wouild be shorter breaks inbetween and your babies tummy would hurt :( so he/she would cry a lot more from pain. So yeah breast feed up until YOU feel comfortable doing so and your "mommy sense" will take care of everything just fine!

GOOD LUCK! .
