I could get rid of everything to persue a personal quest. In the 70's I did a "back to the land" farming experience in WVA. We had no electricity, that meant kerosine lamps, using the stream to keep things cool, and no appliances but a wood cook stove.
We all learned to be inventive to meet the daily needs of life. We had a well and an outhouse. We heated water for our baths and laundry.
We dried our clothing outside on a line, or inside in a spare room. It was great because most of our daily living took up most of our time and we didn't need anything, except some musical instruments and a small radio to entertain us..
I am trying to confine myself to a tent as I try to ride an old motorcycle to all 48 continental states. I am expecting to do with out every creature comfort I can imagine in this adventure. If you have a back yard I can pitch a tent in for a couple of days if I pass thru your town, please let me know.My quest is to see how much money I can raise as I take a 12 month escape from normalcy.
I want to see the sunrise only 50 people of seen and the sunsets that 1000's cherish. I also want to prove that atheists can work with religous folks across this country to help people, none of us know.An old hippy on an old bike, (81 KZ 440 LTD) can do with out a lot of creature comforts in search of something different, something worthwhile, and something just plain crazy. At the age of 53, this is probably the last chance I have to do something really 70's hippy-ish.
When the quest starts, we give up material things. I would have given up my self (the perceived self) when the quest ends (realising the real Self - the true identity).
I could only say one... ego, let that go, and you'd be fine, for example even on a desert island we would have some sense of entitlement... let that go, and you'd survive.
All I ask for is health. I don't need anything else.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
