It's empty threats. North Korea does not have the capability. The threats are for their own people so they can appear tough.
North Korea's longest range missile is flawed and explodes on launch for the most part. And even when it works, BARELY has the range to maybe hit Hawaii. The Continental USA is out of the question.
And they do not have nukes for the missiles even if they worked and had the range. A nuclear "test device", something designed to explode under controlled conditions... is NOT the same thing as having a working warhead (weapons system), something to put in the nose of a missile. And their "nukes" are a joke.
In the USA we would call them duds. We have conventional (non-nuclear) weapons more powerful than their biggest nuke. Their first was a sub-kiloton yield (less than 1 kiloton), their biggest to date was 6 kilotons.
Hiroshima (in 1945) was 20 kilotons and that was a baby firecracker by today's standard (which is 475 kilotons) EDIT: Henry, Hannah.... I really wish you idiots would stop talking nonsense. Educate yourself on the realities of the situation before you go mouthing off about Washington DC and the like as targets for a missile that barely can make Hawaii (when it doesn't blow up on the pad that is).
OMG this scares the fuuuuck out of me. People have said they would aim for New York, LA, or Washington DC. I don't know much about the nuke itself.
Edit: And Austin, Texas. They have threatened then already.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
