I went through about a year with panic attacks that woke me out of a sound sleep. I would wake up, wait for it to pass, and go back to sleep. Then it would happen again.
This would go on all night long, so I would get up and do the computer or someother thing. I was exhausted and a complete depressed and anxious mess in the morning.
The first thing I did was go to a therapist. Sometimes we don't why we are having the panic attacks. There is some fear deep down that we may not be in touch with, or some stress we are not aware of.
The panic attacks usually come out of nowhere, when nothing is seemingly on your mind. But there is an underlying cause and a good therapist can help you a lot.
I rarely have them anymore, but because of the tools I have been given, I have learned to ride them out on the rare occasions I have them. I have learned I will not die. But it took me a long time to get there and therapy is where I overcame it.

It's really dependent on what is going on at the time, how I'm feeling, who is around me, and where I am. On a normal week, at home, I usually only start to feel really anxious (racing thoughts, can't sleep, heart pounding) a couple times a week.
I'm not on any medication. I usually try deep breathing for a few minutes, some calm music, lavender aromatherapy, and Valerian root for sleeping. Usually, it will pass and I can get to sleep.
Some nights, it doesn't pass and I end up on the computer all night talking to friends or family to take my mind off things.
I have had panic attacks going on two years now and I aslo struggle with ocd and bipolar disoder for me I take it day by day try to live in the moment not in the past or the fucture I aslo did alot of research informed myself on what to do and got tips on how to cope I see a therapist once a week and I practice what she teaches me.
I'm on medication to help...Lexapro. I like it, but I don't take it everyday like I should. (I have a fear of becoming addicted to it).
But I've also learned with the help of a therapist to take a minimum of 20 minutes a day to be alone and meditate. That really helps too. It teaches you to breath and to just focus on nothing.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
