Backpacking combines hiking and camping in a single trip. Although hiking doesn't seem like a dangerous sport, and statistically hiking and backpacking are both very safe sports, each year there are numerous fatalities from related accidents. Falls seem to be common with hypothermia and drowning also causing numerous deaths.In 2009, there was 2 hicking accidents registered compared to 3 accident in 2005.
Between that time, no accidents ocurred. 2003 had 5 hicking accidents king accidents on Fourteeners in Colorado killed ten people in 2010.By comparison, downhill ski and snowboard accidents inside resort boundaries result in about twenty deaths in Colorado per year. Avalanches in backcountry areas kill about as many people every year as those who die hiking.
However, all outdoor recreation enthusiasts can reduce injuries and fatalities by studying the area into which they travel and packing adequate gear for emergencies.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
