How much do you spend on your kids for Christmas? How much do you spend from you and how much from Santa?

I saw this question asked last year, but not this year and was hoping to get some different people's answers. I bought my son a trampoline w/enclosure from Mom and Dad and he will get pajamas or a coat or something Christmas Eve, then on Christmas Day, he will get gifts from Santa. My friend does it backwards from me where she just buys a dollar amount of presents and marks them all from her except for one which is from Santa.

It varies My younger boys get more Santa gifts than the older ones it seems. Normally there is a nice Family gift for all of us, and I often marrk it from Santa. Legos and stuff leik that are often Santa Gifts.

Sometimes some clothes are. Last year they all got matchign custom sleepers my mom made for them and they loved them. That was what they all opened that evening.

They had been washed already and were ready to wear. They all thanked their Granny for those a lot. Last year I was bad, but it was fun.

All my boys are bedwetters, the eldest is almost dry (he is 15) and so last Xmas I had ordered them each some night cloth diapers and plastic pants and marked them all from Santa. It was classic. The look they had when they opened them was so great.My youngest said "wow, Santa really does know everythign about us" and his 10 yr old brother had to agree (he found out this year that Dad is Santa, and said it makes more sense now whey they got what they got from Santa last year.

). My eldest just gave me a raised eyebrow and smiled. He knew I ordered them, but never figured they would be under the tree on Xmas morning.

This year Santa is giving warm socks and some legos and some DVDs for all the boys. Looks like 1-2 toys each and then a package of socks each and then the group DVDs.No diapers for Xmas this year, at least not yet. In the stockings they always get some small toys, liek match box cars (its a tradition) and some fruit, orange and either a banana or apple as well as some hershey kisses or penut butter cups.

The rule is they can get anyting that is in the stocking or under it when they wake up, and take it back to their room/bed. If something is under the tree and un wrapped, that is fair game as well for the person that gets it, but otherwise, they have to wait until I get up and wake up. Atleast 7am before they can bug me, and this year its 8am.

They get a tree gift before church on the 24th. Then after dinner and such I pick out the 1 gift they get to open that night. Then its quiet family time, normally playing a game or watching tv or such.

Depends if we are at home or my folks place and such. Bedtime gets extended a little in general. And then before I got to bed, I take care of the stocking and such.

I have found that if I wait to after 11pm, they should all be asleep, except my eldest and he is layed back about it and will be busy watching a dvd anyways. I don't do dollar amounts as it varies each year what I can afford to spend on Xmas. Also it varies on what my mom sends over after Christmas Eve dinner to add to the stockings or under the tree.

My boys always get IOU and coupons for Daddy Time stuff, like 30 minutes of reading time (where I read to them often after tuckign them in for an extra 30 min) or 30 min bedtime extention (cuddle clause) they can stay up late but they got to cuddle with me or a sibling, helps keep the family close. They also get fishing coupons, as well as tickle free coupons, and stuff liek that. They love it and its good family time stuff as well.

They each get 3 each Game Night Picker and DVD night picker. They can use those on those nights to pick a game wwe will play, as long as its an allowed game and I don't over rule them. This year they are each getting 4 lounge coupons, its a coupon that allows them to wear thier sleepers all day on a non school day, and not have to get dressed except when we go out shopping or such.

Since they all love to lounge in the sleepers when its cold and stormy, I figured to use that to my advantage. Its a bit more work for me, as I have found from experience that if they lounge and watch tv they often will nap a little and that can cause accidnets so I have to change them more often, just in case, but whats a few extra diapers when they boys are happy and healthy? And afterall, Christmas is about spending time with those you love, and why not promote that more by using coupons and such for the kids to get that extra time they need and want.

Not sure yet my new son is 9. He still believes in Santa and I think its great. So he will get several things from Santa this year.

This Christmas might be a little bigger than the next, because I saved up the last few years, and he needs a few new things and its our first Christmas. My biggest gift I hope will be a copy of the adoption request papers that I will be signing late next week. I have ordered him some clothes and some will be from me and some from Santa.

I let him look at the super soft and warm sleepers Lands End makes and he told me which ones he likes. I order him 2 pair and he already got one of them a few weeks ago. It was not his favorite, that one he will get on Christmas eve.

Figure that is a good evening gift. The rest he will get in the morning. After dinner we will relax a little then do the Christmas eve gift and then after he is changed and in his sleeper and ready for bed, I think we will watch a Christmas movie.

S pick and then just snuggle on the couch and enjoy the holidays. My sister suggested I give him a pack of his pampers in his stocking, but I don’t think I will do that. But I wonder if she will do that to my nephew (both have enuresis at night) and teasing is not allowed about that in our homes.

I figure maybe a small lego package and some fruit and candies and stuff like that will be good stocking gifts. He is getting a new bike, and that will be from me, but the helmet is from Santa, as he hates the helmet he has and I think he won't figure out he is getting a new bike until he gets the note to tell him to go look in the back of my truck. Still working out how I want to spring that surprise on him.

No Set Amount When I had children at home, I had no set amount. I began shopping as soon as the winter clothes came out, and was usually finished before Thanksgiving. I let my heart be my guide for each child.

I did not have unlimited funds, so I just asked God to guide me each time I set out to do a bit of shopping. Their Christmases were always memorable and felt full. I discovered as I went along my single-parenting way that it really is the thought that counts, there's something about the expression of love in a well-thought out gift or group of gifts, and that's what seems to matter the most..

We are self employed so the amount that I spend is pretty much dependent upon how much I can eek away from paying bills ~ or squeeze out from not buying other frivolous stuff. I have caught on to what months I usually have a tad bit of excess and try to pickup stuff and put it away but they have this annoying habit of searching for giftswe dont' do the Santa thing.My 3 kids are seriously skeptical, sneaky little buggers...i try to get the same # and spend the same amount on each kid. They actually count and look at that.

This year I won't be spending much. Mostly necessities. New jacket, (new as in from Goodwill) some earrings for my earring-freak 12 yr old and a bathrobe, some vocabulary building and books for my kid who is struggling w/ school.

And I am making each one of them new tote-bags.

3 I don't really celebrate Christmas but for Hanukah I don't have a set amount every time but as soon as Hanukah finish I start buying stuff for the next one. My kids receive more stuff in Hanukah that even in their birthday. I learn that in Hanukah the kids get a little gift every night and on the last day of Hanukah they get a special gift and that what I do (I am not jewish myself so I am kind of learning this stuff).

The little gift may be movies (that have came out through the year, I just save them for this ocation) Little cars, little dolls and stuff like that and on the last nigh something they really, really want that can be a little more expensive. This year, my older kids are going to get a musical instrument for the last night and I still trying to figure it out what to give to my 3 years old kid. Maybe a train set from Thomas & Friends I can get at the last minute at ToysRus.

Cant they wait till next year when they actually worked the bugs out of the system, its cheaper, and more games are around for it. Here is what I spend on the kids at christmas My daughter: $1000 ishBoys I babysit: the two older boys around $100 for both (the toys will be shared at my house) and about $100 for the baby (he has the least stuff as it is). I spent about the same for my husband that I did for my daughter. The problem with them is the stuff they want is expensive - a gameboy (hers is broken), a Storm Launcher, a Sing Star Kareoke game for PS2, gameboy games, PS2 games, etc., etc. so it adds up.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
