I really don't know anything about this. My grandfather passed this down to me when he passed away.It is in excellent condition, only maybe played with once or twice. I have the boxes, but they arent in great condition.
I also have the original receipt from when my grandfather bought this in 1963. I had a collector tell me about 10 years ago that it can be worth around $800-$1200. Im not really sure though.
Im not looking to sell it right now, just wanting to know what I can get for it. Thank you Asked by afeezy 18 months ago Similar questions: 1963 lionel train set Games & Leisure > Living story.
1 Well, if the boxes were in great shape, they might be worth what the collector told you. However, in this day and age, and the fact that they are worn, I would guess maybe 200 or 300 dollars. There was one (not as old as yours) on EBay for $124.It hasn't sold.
Your best bet would be to find a rich, avid collector. Just selling them outright isn't going to bring you much.

To answer your question: it's worth some bucks and is really collectible and if you have the boxes, that's a plus. Short of saying you should take it to "Antiques Roadshow" if they ever come to where you live, I can't begin to give you a ballpark estimate. You could check on eBay and see what similar items have gone for - then double or triple the price, since eBay these days seems to be populated mostly by bottom-feeders who won't pay anywhere near what things are worth.
I think there is a price guide published for model train enthusiasts - you might want to go to the library and see if they have it - that would probably be your best bet. Hang on to - and if you ever think about selling it - wait until the economy has recovered!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
