From what I have heard the Exodus was written during a specific historical context, that of the end of the Bronze Age when the structure of society collapsed pretty much everywhere in the Mediterranean. Though maybe not slaves, they would not have been part of the elite class of those societies. So yes, the Exodus as written never happened, but that doesn't mean that there is not a collective memory of a migration, the type of migration that occurred during the "Greek Dark Ages" (a.k.a.
Collapse of the Bronze Age) where entire cities or towns are abandoned and never resettled. It would seem some elements of it are true given a context of social collapse. Moses, for instance is an Egyptian name.
I would be strange to think that Jews feeling discriminated, would follow a guy with an Egyptian name (even if they were living in Egypt). So some Jews (a relatively small group) could have been living in Egypt and they fled or migrated, for what ever reasons by following a guy named Moses.
You would be better off with a claim about MOST historians, rabbis, and archaeologists. But anyhow, Exodus makes a great story (and a few movies). Also, there are some Egyptian stories from about 1225 BC, even as far back as 1890 BC, that have close parallels with the Joseph stories.
It is reasonable to suppose that a few Israelites were in Egypt around this time, and brought the stories back to Israel / Judah. Presumably an original Exodus story lies hidden somewhere inside all the later revisions and alterations, but centuries of transmission have long obscured its presence, and its substance, accuracy and date are now difficult to determine. I have never heard of any serious discussion by modern Egyptians that Passover is a "big lie" and "hurtful".
Mostly, if they say anything about it at all, they say that it is an interesting myth. Or more likely, they are careful to agree that Moses existed, and was pure, a messenger, a prophet. The Exodus story and its associated holy places remain important in regional Islamic practice.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
