How to automatically spin down external LaCie drive after XX minutes idle?

I have a LaCie D2 Quadra 750GB external HD connected to my Mac Pro (running 10.5.5) and have the LaCie connected via eSATA to a LaCie eSATA PCI-E card. And it all works well except that I want the external drive to power/spin down after a certain amount of time being idle. The reason: The drive, while looking good, running fast and being cool, has a constant very high pitch humming sound that is making constant use absolutely unbareable.

When I bought it I thought it was a fanless design but apperantly it does use a fan of some sort. Either way, I'd rather not constantly have to switch the drive On/Off but cannot find a software solution to power/spin down only the external drive after 5min idle time. Any help would be much appreciated.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
