I didn't use bernate Tools in Eclipse. But here is an alternative solution to issue HQL statements against your database. There is tool called HQE bernate Query Editor (HQE) is a simple application designed to make easy the work of writting HQL/SQL queries for It has simple features like syntax highlight and other editing stuff.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
