Start out with the element hidden with display:none as enhzflep suggests. Then you can use jquery to show and hide the drop down.
If you add these styles to your CSS, it works. Basically, they say that the default state of of dd elements is hidden. If a dl element is hovered, then it's dd children are visible.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
