Apply the border to the wrapper (list item) and not to the anchor.

I assumed you wanted the tab to stay in place and not sink down. Sorry for the poor explanation, but I think maybe the jsfiddle can do a better job of explaining than I can at the moment, GL!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
