How to replace European light bulb socket with an American standard socket?

How to replace European light bulb socket with an American standard socket I have a lamp bought in France that has a european socket but takes a standard American bulb. The socket is bad and I want to rplace it. However, I cannot figure out how to take it apart.It appears to be a two part socket held together by screws burried deep inthe socket.

I acnnot see the screws so I cannot figure out how to take the thing apart. Also, the socket is held in place by awasher which locks around the sockets neck. Further, below the socket neck where the cord passes into the socked there is a set screw that appears to clamp the cord to the socket.

I would like to take the socket apart without having to saw it into two. Anyone have any ideas as to 1) what type of socket this might be and 2) how to remove the socket without sawing it in two? How to... You probably also should replace the cord and plug. Buy a short (6 foot) extension cord of the right color and thin enough to thread back into the lamp. Cut off the far end so you can thread it into the lamp.

But first of course you have to get the socket out. Some of these just unscrew-- grab onto the socket, either by hand or with a pair of pliers and turn it counter clockwise. It will either unscrew or break off.In any case you then should be able to see how it was fastened in.

Hope it was not with rivets! Then remove the old cord and thread in the new one, cursing all the while. CAREFULLY wire up the new socket, making sure there are no loose strands of wire poking out!.

Reassemble. You really should now check for shorts and grounds with a meter. Much better than ending up with a lamp that kills youy when you touch it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
