Hard to say but I think we can safely assume that dreadful film with Vanessa Redgrave as Elizabeth 1 having babies left, right and centre was completely off the mark. Elizabeth lived in a time when childbirth was extremely hazardous and I m sure contraception as they understood it was a hit and miss affair. There was also the pesky question of a husband.
As queen, she could hardly bring bastard children into the world. It s not like she was a man who could do as he pleased - her father springs to mind. She had three choices - follow her sister s unpopular example by marrying a foreigner 2) raise one of her nobles to the highest rank and thereby cause deep divisions in the upper echelons 3) remain alone.
I think she made the right choice, if not the easiest one, of determining her own future as she was one of the few women of her time who had that privilege. Her mother, Anne Boleyn, certainly didn t.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
