Hypothetical question...what do you think Askville would do if.... OK, imagine you just earned your first L2, you have 302 experience points. And you've been dying to get your hands on the L2 coin multiplier. So, you spend most of your coins to acquire this baby.
Then, before you even got a chance to use it, one of the questions you answered a few days ago earns you a final rating of weak, and you lose 5 experience points in your L2 topic. So now, you'd have 297 points in your L2 topic, but you need 300 to be an L2. Would you lose your superpower and have to rebuy it?
Would you keep your superpower but it wouldn't work until you got back up above 300? Or would nothing happen? And in case you're wondering, this doesn't apply to me, I'm just curious.

I'm just spit-ballin' here... ...but I think you would be allowed to keep and continue using your L2 Superpower. My reasoning is that once you've earned and "paid for" the L2 Superpower, then it's yours. They can't take a gift back.
Not to mention that once it's activated, I doubt they screen users to make sure that they're "authorized" to continue using them. The Superpowers aren't really that powerful or important. And I think if they were concerned about policing site activity here more, they'd have a number of other interests in mind ahead of monitoring Superpower worthiness.
Additionally, I think The Wizards of Askville would be willing to look the other way figuring - just as I would - that the downward trend was a fluke, and not likely to continue. I can't imagine a user whose coins and levels are continually plummeting. So I think we're allsafe!

I seriously doubt Askville would do anything Nor do I think they'd be obligated to,unless there was voting abuse that resulted in that weak rating. If there wasn't,then it's the fault of the answerer, they gave a weak answer and they were rated accordingly. At this point,it's up to that person to get those points back, which could just require one answer.
One good will circumvent that weak, returning them to their original points total. One thing that I'm not sure of though. I don't actually know if your level is reduced after you've acheived it.
I knowthat I've seen people on L2 before, that had less than 300 experience points in that topic. I don't actually know if your level is downgraded once you've made it,at least not right away. Nonetheless, barring blatent abuse,it's your responsibility to gain these points back, just like it would bve in any case.

1 That is one heck of a hypothetical. I don't even want to guess because I am almost at level 2 and I am dying for that coin multiplier, cause I figure it has to be better than my other super power.

2 Just my 2 cents worth... I don't think the CMSP is worth it, at least not how it is currently designed. I don't like jumping through hoops... Besides, why do you care how many coins you have? They aren't worth anything in my opinion...

The VAS seems like a way to spend more time I don't have searching for questions I want to vote on so that I can spend time crafting a thoughtful response for each rating I give...it helps reward better quality answers, they should reward me for the service I provide, not charge me to do it. But yeah, I'll be surprised if these are worth even a penny each. I have no chance or desire of becoming an all time leader...I don't have the time, and I like to give well crafted answers.
But here I was just wondering what they'd do if this situation occurred. I think they'd do nothing, but just thought it was an interesting discussion to get going.
HWM, I agree, I didn't buy the L2 multiplier. I did achieve an L2 in Random Crap and immediately got the L1 and L2 voting superpowers, but had I known that you don't get coins for voting while using them, I probalby just would have bought L1. I just recently after about 10 weeks earned back the 200 coins I spent on my L1 coin multiplier, I can't imagine how long it would take me to earn back 2000 coins.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
