Edinburgh University. It was one of the first 4 universities built in England, and ALSO the first one to offer the English Literature degree (Ironic isn't it, because it's in scotland haha). So yes, Edinburgh University is a Top Choice, highly respected.
I believe something like 3,000 students apply, 200 get in and 80 continue/graduate with 1st class marks. I go to Edinburgh for english literature so this is my suggestion :) Other ones which are 'more average' and easier to get into: Warwick (famous for churning out famous writers) York Durham (Actually Durham is right behind Oxford/Cambridge, they are a super university too. So super that I got rejected by my AAA mark.) Here is the best 'selection' you can make, giving you a range of 'levels' in case you don't get the marks you want... you can get your next best option.
1) Durham 2) UCL 2) Edinburgh University 3) York 4) Warwick UCL vs. Edinburgh - just depends where you want to live. By the way, the top 3 are FANTASTIC cities... London can be really hectic/party life.... Warwick is the quietest 'boring' university in the country side. Just my 2 cents, that Edinburgh IS the best :).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
