I already know the answer to this, but I'm curious about public perception: what's the difference between a nerd and a geek?

There seems to be some dispute about the popular definitions of nerds and geeks (although most people agree about dorks). The consensus seems to be that geeks have more marketable talents and/or better social skills than nerds (although some people reverse this), while dorks are critically lacking in both. For the record, my score on the Nerd/Geek/Dork test: okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=9935030990... is Nerd 70%, Geek 39%, Dork 65%, making me "Tri-Lamb Material" (although I'd like to think that the overall quality of my answers here makes me more of a geek and less of a dork).

They both mean almost the same thing. But Nerds are are unattractive. They don't care about their appearance.

They have above average intelligence. Geeks are also smart people. But they are more tech savvy people.

In my perception a geek is better than a nerd.

I would say that there is a more positive conotation to Nerd - it implies someone is very intelligent but may be lacking some social skills Geek is a more rude term, it brings to mind basement dwelling 40 somethings who still live with their parents and only communicate via some technological device.

A geek is anyone who is passionate about a specific subject.

2 Complete differnt things. Nerd - School / Science smart, Geek - Dungeons and dragons , Video games. Yeesh = P.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
