I am thinking that you could have a marriage ceremony; but it may not be recognized as a legal marriage ceremony for a french citizen or a chinese citizen, unless you do paperwork for both him and you in your home countries.

We want it be "official and legal " both in china and in france, we choose USA because for the moment, no matter get married in france or in china, it is way too complicated for us , and we wanna live together in france after my j1 in usa, so we need legal paper for me to go back to france. You might find both a chinese and a french consulate and ask their advice in this matter. I would imagine as long as you file the proper paperwork; it doesn't matter where you actually are when you sign it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
