It depends on the type of cortisone that was injected. Because cortisone injections are made to be long lasting, they will affect your blood sugars much longer than taking a tablet of cortisone (prednisone). You may notice the effects for as long as a month.

If you are on insulin, you may need to have your Dr order "coverage" doses for the high readings, like a sliding scale. If you are on pills, talk it over with your Dr, and have a record of your readings for the last month along with you. Then he/she can evaluate whether or not you need a higher dose for a while, or if the readings are not high enough to make that necessary.
