I am going tent camping this weekend...for real. New Braunfels, not looking forward to the bugs and heat. Any advice for a novice?

For the bugs you'll need some kind of repellant on hand just in case - either a spray or rub on lotion. Don't use it if you don't need it. Keep the tent zippered at all times or you will find yourself sleeping with a few extra friends (the flying and crawling variety!).

If you are allowed to have a campfire that will help deter the insects and if not, bring along a citronella candle or two to burn on your picnic table. The chemical is supposed to help ward off insects.As for the heat stay in the pool or lake, put your tent under some shade trees, save the heavy exercise for early morning or evening. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
