I am looking for a Jackie Gleason movie in which he plays the part of a deaf-mute, homeless man in Paris, France. He becomes acquainted with a young preteen girl and becomes her protector on the streets. He starred, directed, wrote the script, and composed & directed the music for the movie.
I can't remember the name of the movie, but recall it to be a real sensitive study of how society can be cruel to someone unlike the majority. I think the name of the movie was a single name or word. Gigot I think you are looking for a 1962 movie written by and starring Jackie Gleason that was directed by Gene Kelly, Gigot. According to Wikipedia, "It was rumored that Director Gene Kelly was upset with the editing forced on him by the studio at the time, resulting in an absence of the films release on VHS or DVD. " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigot In 2004, however, it was remade into a tv movie called The Wool Cap and starred William H.Macy.
This version has been made into a dvd. *Poppet*'s Recommendations The Wool Cap Amazon List Price: $14.98 Used from: $2.39 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 9 reviews) .
That would be GIGOT! (1962) It was a box office failure so I don't think you'll find it on DVD. Sources: Memory .
I saw the movie. Google Jackie Gleason and see what movies he's credited with.
2 Gigot, with a "t"--made in 1962. That was great movie. Of course, I haven't seen it in decades.

3 A poignant comedy about a mute who befriends Nicole, the little daughter of a prostitute. Gleason shows his considerable talents as an actor without uttering a sound as he plays the bumbling, kind-hearted janitor, Gigot. Gleason wrote the original story and music for this film.
Written by Charlie Watkins (IMDb). --------Apparently it's not available at this time.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
