This indicates that there is a bad connection between the GEC3 unit and one or more of the SCI (student) units. This can be caused by either a bad CAT5 cable or a bad SCI (student) unit. To determine this, do the following: • Power down your GEC and wait 5 seconds • Power on your GEC and properly identify which stations are indicating an "X" during the self-test cycle.
• Once you have identified a "bad" station, unplug the RJ45 connector on the rear of the station's SCI box and swap it with the RJ45 connector on a "good" station's SCI box. • Power down your GEC once again and wait 5 seconds • Power on your GEC and study the self-test cycle readout. If you notice that the "X" of the suspected station has moved to the "swapped" station, you have a bad cable.
