First of all... Make sure you consult with your physician since you need the accurate dose of insulin to take daily. Make certain you receive the correct dosage daily. I cared for my dad who had Type 2.

He needed injections twice per day, in the morning before breakfast and the evening before dinner(half of an hour before eating). I would test his blood sugar level before each injection. I assume you have a blood glucose monitor.

Record the result for your doctor. Reduce amount of sugar in your diet as well as foods which convert to sugar in your system like breads, crackers, rice and any other starchy foods. Keep a food diary and record any changes to your blood sugar level as a result of eating certain foods.

Definitely lose weight. Again with your doctor's advice. Losing weight, exercising daily and eating the proper foods will help to keep your diabetes in check and even reduce the amount of insulin you need to URL1 may appear involved but after a while it becomes very routine.

I am there... I have your same issue. First I met with my doctor and then went to a diabetese specialist. There I was put on Lantus, Byetta, and Insulin.

This has worked for me but you need to be consistent about testing. Betta has helped me lose some weight because it causes me not to be hungry. The bad part about insulin is that is can make you hungry so it can be very frustrating.

I am also on an excecise plan because losing the weight will help a lot. It can reduce my dependance on the meds and help control my blood sugar numbers. This will be very helpful.

I have not arrived there but decided I want to live longer and feel better. I hope this helps. Meeting with a nutritionist also helped me in getting started and stay within boundaries..

One thing that many over look.........get rid of the fruit juice. I myself have diabetes. Diet controlled for ten years.

Have not had to go to the pill stage yet. Get rid of the junk, the juice and eat lean proteins, a lower fat diet and lower the carbs. You will have to adjust your diet to meet your needs.

Everyone is different and their body will respond differently. I listened to my dietician and went from there. Exercise how ever you can get it also will help to keep your blood sugar in range.

You will have to work with your doctor on what he feels you are able to do right now. Good luck.
